I’ve been taking pictures for a very, very long time. Film, Polaroid, digital… you name it, and I’ve tried it out. Even today when most everything I shoot is digital, I still play around with an old Polaroid Land Camera to create a look that no digital impression can replicate. There is just something special about using film. Michael Fielden Photography gives me a way to continue that obsession and enjoyment.
Although it isn’t my full-time career at this point, Michael Fielden Photography is one of those efforts that gives me a small reward for doing something that I absolutely love. I get to work with people, families, professionals, and even a model here and there, take their picture, and learn about their life and what makes them tick. I believe that personality is what makes a picture great and that picture needs to be a combination of their personality and mine.
You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved. – Ansel Adams
As much as I believe that there is art and science to photography, I love the social and emotional aspects of photography the most. I love looking at the pictures I’ve taken and seeing a moment that will never be revealed again. Sadness, happiness, confusion. They’re all emotions that a photo can capture and carry forever. If you’d like to sit down and share your emotions or just chat about photography, drop me a line. You can also see more of my work at Michael Fielden Photography.
